"RUSSIA FURNITURE OUTLOOK", edition August 2010, price EUR 1290 see at http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=95

The Russian furniture market went through a very dynamic period in the past several years, especially from 2004 to 2008, both in the home and office furniture segments. The development of the market was unprecedented, with growth rates reaching on average 20-25% in value on yearly basis.
Despite the attractiveness, the strong growth over the years and the yet remaining potential of the Russian market, the country could not have escaped the effects of the world economic recession.
Currently the overall feeling is quite optimistic: the worst should be over. The first half of 2010 was already better than 2009, therefore, there are reasons to believe that the market will start picking up.

"Malaysia Furniture Outlook", edition June 2010, price EUR 590 (http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=75)

Malaysia's furniture industry plays a key role in the country economy. Since the late 1970s the government has considered it as a strategic one and encouraged its development with investment in infrastructures and incentives to export. Therefore, a traditional sector based on small craftsmanship enterprises has gradually transformed into a major industry.
The Malaysian furniture industry has been growing both in terms of consumption and production until the global recession brought a severe contraction in 2009, on the other hand the sector is expected to be able to overcome the current troubles and likely to rapidly recover in the near future thanks to a set of factors. These include the abundant raw material resources; a qualified workforce; attractiveness of foreign investments.

"Ukraine Furniture Outlook", edition April 2010, price EUR 590 (see at http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=950

Furniture making has historically been one of Ukraine's prime craft industries. In recent years the Ukrainian furniture sector has experienced a profound transformation process. The transition towards an open market economy has almost been completed. The furniture sector has been undergoing severe restructuring and production has become more stable. A higher degree of technological improvement has been achieved.

Ukraine enjoys a strategic position between affluent Western Europe and the fast growing Eastern Europe and the Eurasian markets. Labour costs in Ukraine are still lower than in most of its export markets. Moreover, the Ukrainian furniture industry can rely on easily accessible raw materials.

"South Africa Furniture Outlook", edition April 2010, price EUR 590 (see at http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=87)

Furniture and solid wood processing is an old and well established manufacturing industry within South Africa and one of the more traditional sectors that account for a significant proportion of employment.
This sector has been experiencing a tough few years, however, the future outlook seems promising, with demand kicking in from the low to middle income households, and with opportunities for niche markets. CSIL estimates are for a recovery in the medium term.

In the longer term prospects become even rosier and are linked to the country's production and export potential. South Africa is a country with abundant raw materials. Also, generally speaking global companies with a presence in South Africa can benefit from the low risk of investing in a stable economy with a stable government, low labour costs and well-established infrastructure, financial and communication systems. Also, as a matter of fact, South Africa often represents a base from which to export products internationally, frequently to other Southern African, Sub-Saharan and Middle Eastern countries.
---------------------------------------------
"Egypt Furniture Outlook", edition April 2010, price EUR 590 (see at http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=81)

Over the past decade the Egyptian furniture industry has witnessed rapid progress, becoming one of the country's fastest growing and most promising industries.

Egypt displays a dynamic furniture industry, which has proven more and more successful on the international markets. In particular, between 2004 and 2008 production doubled, driven by a surge in exports, and output reached almost US$ 860 million.
The increase in the exports/production ratio was really impressive between 2000 and 2009 rising from 3% in 2000 to 26% in 2009.

Some of the reasons for this dynamism and improvement are: the long tradition of craftsmanship, investments in skilled labour and the most advanced technology, improved business management and government supportive policies with the aim of building an internationally recognized furniture design and production industry.

CSIL latest issue:
"Turkey Furniture Outlook", edition March 2010, price EUR 590 (see at http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=2762)

Furniture production in Turkey jumped from around US$ 2.2 billion in 2000 to US$ 5.4 billion in 2008, it maintained high levels in 2009, despite registering a sharp reduction. The last ten years have witnessed rapid progress in the Turkish furniture industry, which is increasingly capable of penetrating export markets as well as exploiting the growing domestic demand. Furthermore, when analyzing the group of emerging economies, Turkey is one of the top five suppliers, after China, Poland, India and Brazil.

In the last ten years the sector witnesses a notably high degree of openness, which has adjusted to around 30% in 2009.

HE FURNITURE INDUSTRY IN SOUTH EAST ASIA, SOUTH KOREA AND TAIWAN, March 2009, price EUR 1600 (see
http://www.worldfurnitureonline.com/showPage.php?template=reports&id=111)

Countries covered: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

The entire South East Asian region is a dynamic area for the furniture sector and the current globalisation process has deeply affected the furniture industry in South East Asia, South Korea and Taiwan.
The global crisis is showing its effects also in these economies but with different degree because of the variety of these countries with respect to economic characteristics.
Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand are leading furniture exporters.
Vietnam is another very important emerging country, with its impressive growth in production and exports, particularly toward the United States, and because it provides a very cheap productive base for the furniture sector. Singapore and Taiwan are home to the management and ownership of leading furniture companies who relocated some years ago and now have important production facilities in China and other Asian countries.
